Kazzoom Music, Inc. is a full-service music production company owned by songwriter/producer/music publisher/educator, Phil Galdston. Phil has written and/or produced songs for, among others, Yolanda Adams, Beyoncé, Brandy, Cher, Marc Cohn, Constantine, Sheryl Crow, Celine Dion, Kurt Elling, Aretha Franklin, Faith Hill, Aaron Neville, and Vanessa Williams. His work has appeared in numerous films and on countless TV shows. Kazzoom Music also develops its own artists and is involved in the creation of new models for the exploitation of music on television and the internet. The company’s facility is located on Manhattan’s Upper West Side.
Job Description:
Responsibilities include assisting in the studio; CD copying and labeling; clerical and computer work; data backup and cataloging; answering and making phone calls, and running errands. If qualified, the job could include some assistant engineering and programming, providing the intern with experience with Logic, Recycle, Toast, Melodyne, EXS Manager, FileMaker Pro, and other professional software.
Qualifications:
Enjoyment of music; Macintosh-literate, Office (Word, Excel, etc.)-literate, internetliterate; interest in learning more about music business; willingness to stay in the background; good people skills. Musical and/or audio engineering ability and experience not necessary, but helpful. No particular major required. Personal qualities are most important.
Hours:
Approximately 15-24 hours a week, with a reasonably flexible schedule.
Compensation:
This is a non-paying internship. Certification of work-for-college-credit and recommendations gladly provided.
