SummerStage 2011 Volunteer Opportunities

Posted on Updated on

Since 1986, we’ve been presenting works of the highest caliber from the worlds of music, dance, theater, film, and spoken word, from some of the world’s most inventive and influential creative artists. And we’ve presented them for free, in the heart of New York City, to eager, ever-growing audiences. This year, we will continue that tradition, providing a showcase for over 100 performances in parks throughout the five boroughs.

An essential part of that tradition is the Central Park SummerStage Volunteer program, made up of dedicated fans of the festival who donate their time and their passion in order to ensure our audiences have a memorable experience. The volunteers assist us at each of our performances by distributing information and directions, assisting in crowd control, and requesting the donations that make these events possible. It’s their enthusiastic efforts that set Central Park SummerStage apart from all other festivals, and they can use your help this year.

You can find our full 2011 schedule (including our events at other parks throughout the city) online at www.summerstage.org take a look, and see which dates you’re available to volunteer. Tell me the dates you’re interested in and we’ll take it from there. And don’t miss the pre-season Orientation Meeting for new volunteers on Friday, May 27; write me for the time and location.

For the past three years she has helped Guerilla Union with their annual Rock the Bells concert in NYC and its that time of year again.

They need 12 volunteers to help manage the VIP client area which involves checking tickets, giving out merchandise and assisting Guerilla Union to ensure a smooth show.  You will also have an opportunity to meet and greet artists, in the past volunteers have met Method Man, A Tribe Called Quest and members of Slaughter House just to name a few.  You will also have a chance to catch some of the show.

This year Rock the Bells is taking place at Governors Island on Saturday August 28th and some of the confirmed acts include Snoop Dogg, A Tribe Called Quest, Wu Tang Clan, Slick Rick, DJ Premier, Rakim, KRS 1, Lauren Hill and many many more.

If you are interested in volunteering, please e-mail Elnaz Nesva with the following info:

  • Your full name
  • Your cell phone number
  • Your program/school/year of study (if you are a student)
  • Your age

You will need to be very reliable and professional and be available the whole day, please also bring a photo ID that shows your date of birth.  Volunteers are generally the first ones in with the Guerilla Union staff (around 8-9am) and the last ones out (around 12-1am).

Volunteer Opportunity: Lincoln Center’s Mid-Summer Night Swing!

Posted on Updated on

It’s getting to be that time of year again!  We’re gearing up for a new, improved and fantastic summer of outdoor concerts and wanted to give our best volunteers a first chance at scheduling volunteer shifts for the Midsummer Night Swing 2010 season.  There will be many changes to the process this summer including a new stage and dance floor set design and black lights and hand stamps instead of wrist bands!  We think that these changes are going to make the whole process much more fun and simple for everyone and we can’t wait to try them out with you!  For more information about who is performing this summer you can check out our performance schedule at midsummernightswing.org

This year, we’ve moved the volunteer sign up process to an online application that can be found by following this link: MSNS Volunteer Application. Please, fill out the form and click the submit button to send us your preferred dates for volunteering.

We will also be getting in touch with you all about a volunteer orientation on June 14th that we would highly recommend any volunteers – new and veteran – attend because of the changes we’ve made for this summer.

Thank you all so much for your hard work in the past and we look forward to hearing from you this summer!

All the best,

The Public Programming Team

Lincoln Center for the Performing Arts, Inc.
